Native abdominal X-ray image
The native abdominal image is an X-ray photograph which shows the abdominal organs’ – especially the stomach, intestines, liver and diaphragm – shadows and certain defects, for example, the gallstones which contain lime and therefore create shadow.
Due to a number of other test options nowadays mostly it is used to detect the fluid and air accumulating in the stomach and intestines during bowel obstruction, or when the wall of the hollow body (e.g. stomach) is leaked and some free air is dropped into the abdominal cavity and it is accumulating under the diaphragm.
